I came here looking to explore what the “cultural atmosphere” is like to be a lesbian living in Singapore (and Asia), with the possibility of moving to Singapore for work in the near future. And for an exchange of ideas, maybe “connect” with people from the place I was born but never knew, and to possibly make some friends along the way. I was in no way looking for a romantic relationship in any way, shape, or form. The cliché of not looking and you will find, must be true. In fact, I was quite resistant to being in a relationship and have actively turned down prior “offers” because I wanted to focus on my career and my family.

I think that this website is an excellent forum in which queer identified women can exchange ideas, garner support, and build relationships (apparently, of all sorts). :) Kudos to the people who actively work at maintaining the website, providing the support to people who come here, and being friendly and open to interested people. If and when I’m in Singapore, to express my gratitude – dinner & drinks on me (if interested) to those people. :)

For me, Sayoni has given me the opportunity to know more friends with the same preferences. Have to say that I am still new to this but I have to say that I feel comfortable enough with the people I have met so far in Sayoni. A very warm family in a different way.

Prior to joining Sayoni, I used to surf other Lesbian websites. They were informative to help me understand more of myself and be comfortable with myself. But have to say that Sayoni provides a whole different point of view as I find that opinions posted up are honest and straight to the point. Sayoni to me is very informative and does make me feel not so alone (as some of the lesbian sites out there makes it sound like you are the only one who experience what you are going through). Especially when most of my frends prior to this are predominantly straight. There are just certain issues that are difficult to talk abot although we can be the best of friends. Over here, at least I can talk openly about it without feeling weird out.
